Our History, Legal Structure & Status

The Capital Region Landkeepers Trust was initially established in 2013 with generous seed funding and support from Greening Australia (Capital Region).

The Hon Simon Corbell, the then Minister for the Environment and Sustainable Development officially launched the Trust in November 2014; joined by a range of government, community and commercial sector representatives with responsibilities or interests in natural resource management within the Capital Region.

The Trust is a legal entity established under the Corporations Act with an independent governing board of environmental experts and community leaders from the region. It is regulated by the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission and is listed on the Australian Government Register of Environmental Organisations.  It has deductible gift recipient status and donations greater than $2 are tax deductible.
